Katrin Stamatis, Violin
Violinist Katrin Stamatis maintains an active solo and orchestral career, alongside her busy teaching schedule. She has held leading positions in many orchestras, including the Bach Society of Columbia University, the Mannes College Orchestra, the National Orchestral Institute, the National Repertory Orchestra and the Spoleto Festival Orchestra. Katrin attended Barnard College, where she was enrolled in the joint program with Manhattan School of Music. As an undergraduate she was a founding member and President of the Bach Society of Columbia University. She received her Masters Degree from Mannes College of Music in 2004. Her primary teachers include Peggy Klinger, Ik-Hwan Bae, Nina Beilina, and Gary Kosloski. Since 2005 she has played in the Albany Symphony Orchestra, the Vermont Symphony Orchestra and the Chelsea Symphony, with whom she was featured as soloist in the Brahms Double Concerto. She gives frequent recitals in her native New York City, including at the Tenri Cultural Institute, the Calhoun School and Hoff-Barthelson Music School. Katrin has been on the faculty of the Calhoun School, the Larchmont Music Academy, and has maintained a full private studio in New York. She was recently appointed Guest Professor of Violin and Viola for the 2009-10 academic year at Drake University.
